Heart of the Matter Meditation

This meditation was designed to help you come into your full capacity and live a vibrant life of contribution, fulfillment and peace. Over the last 25 years, thousands of people have practiced this meditation.

One way of looking at meditation is that you make some time to go within. So what makes this different from a more traditional, quiet meditation? The Heart of the Matter meditation incorporates your body, mind, emotional body and spirit.

Here's how you do this meditation.

Part One – Opening

You start with desire which is essential to setting an intention, a focus.

Much of what we deal with in our mind is driven by pent-up emotions. For example, worry is mostly driven by fear. Feel the emotions as deeply as you can with the intention of opening your emotional body and letting go.

Music

We use various moods of music to support opening up, releasing, moving and letting go. In the meditation you can also move your body to release physical blocks and stored tension.

Trust and Going Deeper

As you go deeper, you may start to feel a sense of longing. It could be a feeling of something missing or longing to feel connected. You may want to call on a higher power or ask for something from the deepest part of your heart. Trust whatever way going deeper happens for you.

The meditation is best done in a private space where you won't be disturbed. The supplies that you will need are a notepad and pen, tissues and a small towel.

Using a Towel to Release

So what do you do with a towel? You scream into it to release emotions, physical blocks and mental stress. It may feel awkward at first, but it is a healthy way to deal with the more intense emotions, like anger, fear or frustration. Also, scream into your towel when you feel stuck or your mind is spinning or you want to open up to something deeper, but you can't quite get to it.

Part Two – Calming

This meditation includes some time for calming. You will hear the music change. Shift your focus to calming your mind, body and emotions.

Part Three – Meditative Thinking

This meditation includes meditative thinking – a time to gain clarity and receive information, which is much easier when you're in an open, receptive, and calm state. Focus on one subject by asking questions about it.

Part Four – Taking Action

Taking action becomes important because it is how you use the clarity you get from Meditative Thinking to make necessary changes in order to move forward in your material as well as your spiritual life.
