Piper, Dove, Honey, and Robert are dedicated to guiding people through the depth of transformation that it takes to find a lasting connection to their True Self. Trained by two spiritual teachers, the four of them have spent the last 25 years leading seminars and retreats for thousands of people around the world. They also offer follow up programs to support participants to continue their transformation after the Retreat. It is through their own on-going transformational work that they are able to help people get to the root of what blocks the essence of who they are—to get to the “Heart of the Matter.”
Piper Makepeace
Having been on a serious quest for truth and freedom since 1982, Piper feels that we are living in a time when many people are struggling with a longing and a dissatisfaction that they experience every day. In response to people’s desire for something more, she has guided thousands to find a deeper connection with their soul and the Source of love.
From 1982 to 1990, Piper was a co-founder and director of a preschool company that served hundreds of children in the Washington, DC area. During those years, she also helped teenagers as a mentor and member of the Board of Directors for a nationwide youth at risk program.
Since 1990, Piper has traveled around Europe and the United States teaching meditation and assisting people through counseling and mediation. In 2005, she co-founded and co-directed a meditation center in San Francisco, serving hundreds of people prior to launching Heart of the Matter Transformation in 2011.
Every weekday Piper, Dove and their team provide a live-streamed meditation that allows people around the world to meditate together at the same time. They created the Heart of the Matter Meditation App in 2017, so that people can access this practice anywhere and at any time.
Dove Mahnke
When he was 19 years old, Dove started his spiritual journey, learning, and practicing various types of meditation and other transformational processes.
Because of the profound shifts he has experienced, Dove has committed his life to providing essential tools for people to have their own personal connection with spirit.
For the past 20 years, Dove has been developing and teaching programs that allow people to live a connected, spiritual lifestyle in the midst of this material world. He was the co-founder and co-director of a meditation center in San Francisco, serving hundreds of people for 5 years prior to launching Heart of the Matter Transformation in 2011.
Since 1990, Dove has been a neuromuscular body therapist, offering an effective method for pain relief. He is currently practicing in Denver, Colorado. Dove created and has been teaching his NBT technique in Germany since 2004, which has now expanded to the United States.
Racole ‘Honey’ Tackett, M.S.
Since 1972, Honey has devoted her life to helping people come to their own realization that their true essence is to be connected, fulfilled, and joyous. By identifying and removing obstacles, they learn that living this way is not only possible, it is their birthright.
For the past 45 years, through a multitude of transformational practices, she has developed an ability to assist others to let go of what no longer serves them. Honey’s passion is supporting people to achieve a more gracious material and spiritual life.
Honey began her career in 1968 as a remedial reading specialist for children who were behind grade level. She earned a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling, and taught teachers and parents to be more effective with children. In 1981, Honey became a Mediator, and developed a 5-Session program for couples, families and business partners which she continues to offer today.

The reason so many people come to staff the Retreat as a volunteer is to give back what they received, and to be part of the miracles that happen each time one person goes through this transformation. The staff takes care of your material needs, so that you are freed up to focus within yourself. They bring a prayerfulness, care and attention to detail that creates a space of safety, love and support.
